Keep The Music Playing COVID-19 Relief Fund
Support The New York Pops' COVID-19 Relief Fund
The New York Pops has always been a family. During these difficult days we are mindful of all of you while we are kept apart in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
At Carnegie Hall and beyond, we have had many joyful musical experiences together –
- Many of you share your love of the orchestra by gathering your family members to experience our once-in-a-lifetime concerts.
- Many of you speak with incredible fondness of those with whom you have been seated at our Carnegie Hall concerts year after year, and who you consider your neighbors!
- Many of you have children who participate in our PopsEd programs, befriending like-minded peers.
To all our family members near and far, we wish you safety, compassion and friendship during this very challenging time!
Because of the COVID-19 crisis our programming has come to an abrupt halt.
Due to the closure of Carnegie Hall to slow the spread of the coronavirus and protect our community, we had to cancel our sold-out concert on March 27, postpone our 2020 gala, and cancel our 2020-21 season in its entirety. The gala is our largest fundraiser each season, providing a significant portion of our annual income.
Gala funds and concert income:
- Help pay for The New York Pops season at Carnegie Hall – providing reliable work for locally based world-class musicians, music director, guest artists, and an array of professionals behind-the-scenes who work to bring our shows to the stage.
- Support our PopsEd music education initiatives – which impact over 4,000 New York City public school students annually.
- Provide for a team of full-time administrative employees who together have worked a total of 41 years on behalf of the orchestra, as well as a small but mighty team of teaching artists.
Everyone at The New York Pops understands that we must do what is necessary right now to protect each other, but we need your help to ensure that we can pick up where we left off when this unprecedented crisis has passed.
You can help us keep the music playing.
To help make up a portion of the vital revenue that was lost, the Keep the Music Playing COVID-19 Relief Fund was established. All gifts to our Relief Fund are 100% tax deductible.
Your tax-deductible contribution now will truly help us keep the music playing for the future in the following ways:
- Make contributions to the orchestra musicians health fund for cancelled performances,
- Provide funds to pay our teaching artists so they may bring virtual lessons to our students and encourage them to keep practicing,
- Take care of our truly exceptional full-time staff who are currently partially furloughed.
In addition to making hard decisions to cut expenses in the short term, but your support today is needed to help bridge the gap and ensure we can continue to keep the music playing.
Please consider donating today. Your contribution can truly make a difference and is 100% tax deductible.
