There are many ways that your support can make
a difference. We’ve outlined some examples below.
Your gift in the amount of:
$5,000 underwrites the expense for commissioning
a new musical arrangement for the orchestra.
$2,500 covers the cost renting percussion
instruments for one concert.
$1,000 supports a professional development
workshop for New York City public school teachers.
$500 covers the cost for four music lessons in one
borough for the Salute to Music program.
$250 subsidizes the cost for an instrument clinic in
The New York Pops Musical Mentors education
program.
$100 provides a public school student the
experience of attending a New York Pops concert
through the Kids in the Balcony program.
Dear Friends,
The New York Pops is celebrating the most exciting time in our history since Skitch Henderson founded the orchestra in 1983. Since Steven Reineke joined the orchestra as music director in 2009, he has received wide acclaim from audiences, musicians, and the press alike, The New York Times described him as “young and vigorous, with a playful attitude that has been a pops orchestral tradition since the heyday of Arthur Fiedler… a polished, welcoming host.” We are thrilled that Steven has introduced a whole new generation to great American music.
With the orchestra poised to reach new heights, now is the time to show your support for The New York Pops. Please join me by supporting the 2009-2010 Annual Fund.
Orchestras across the country have to scale back on artistic and education programs due to the economic crisis and decreased funds from foundations and corporations.
While we are pleased to report that we have been playing to sold out crowds, ticket sales only cover a portion of expenses required to put on our concerts without compromise.
By donating to The New York Pops’ 2009-2010 Annual Fund, you not only help fund our landmark series at Carnegie Hall, our free summer concert in Central Park, and the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, you support our education programs that bring music to thousands of children in New York City’s public schools.
Thank you for supporting The New York Pops!
Best wishes,

James A. Read
