The New York Pops has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The grant, awarded in the category "Access to Artistic Excellence," will support The Best of Lerner & Loewe, a concert celebrating the timeless music of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe with the stars of the Tony award-winning Broadway revival South Pacific, Kelli O’Hara and Paulo Szot.

The can't-miss family-friendly event of the holiday season is The New York Pops presentation of the beloved children’s tale The Polar Express along with other holiday favorites. On December 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium, this concert – a major highlight of the annual Carnegie Hall Family Concert series – will feature the Young People’s Chorus of New York City conducted by John Morris Russell and narration by television and Broadway star John Tartaglia.

The New York Pops will celebrate the holiday season this year with two evenings of timeless carols and seasonal favorites at Carnegie Hall. On December 18 & 19, 2009 at 8:00 PM, the orchestra is joined by celebrated vocalist Sandi Patty for this festive program.

The New York Pops celebrates the centenary of the birth of lyricist and composer Johnny Mercer at Carnegie Hall on Friday, November 20 at 8:00PM. Joining Music Director Steven Reineke and the orchestra are multi-platinum selling singer and songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway, known for starring in the hit Broadway musical "SWING!"; Broadway performer James T. Lane; and actress and opera singer N’Kenge. Together with the Camp Broadway Kids they will perform treasured compositions from the vast Johnny Mercer songbook; highlights include “Dream,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” and “Moon River”.
