Founded in 1983 by Skitch Henderson, The
New York Pops is the largest independent symphonic pops
orchestra in the United States, and the only symphonic
orchestra in New York City specializing in popular American
music. The New York Pops is a not-for-profit corporation
supported solely through individual donations, institutional
grants and concert income. |

To broaden public awareness and enjoyment
of America's rich musical heritage through presentation
of concerts of the highest quality in traditional and
non-traditional settings. |

Time-honored American favorites, including
works of Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland,
Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Morton Gould, Cole Porter,
Richard Rodgers, and Kurt Weill, among many others. |

Comprised of 77 of New York City's top musicians
from the worlds of symphonic music, Broadway and recording. |

An annual subscription series presented by Carnegie
Hall, free Summermusic concerts throughout New York City.
Tours throughout the United States and the world, including
a bi-annual series of New Year’s concerts in Osaka
and Tokyo, Japan. |

Newest release: Live at Carnegie
Hall: Debut Concert April 8, 1983. Previous recordings
include With a Song in My Heart with Maureen McGovern
featuring music of Richard Rodgers, Magical
