The great 2010 Abba-thon continues: following the news of a museum in London honoring that best-selling Swedish pop quartet, the New York Pops said on Wednesday that it was planning a concert of Abba music to kick off its 2010-11 season. On Oct. 15 at Carnegie Hall, the Pops will present “The Music of Abba,” with Rajaton, the Finnish vocal ensemble, performing hits like “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia” and “Take a Chance on Me.” Other events on the Pops schedule include an 80th-birthday celebration for Stephen Sondheim on Nov. 19; a holiday concert with Brian Stokes Mitchell on Dec. 10 and 11; a performance of “El Ritmo de la Vida,” a new work of Latin music by Doc Severinsen, the former “Tonight Show” band leader, on Jan. 28, 2011; and a concert honoring the 50th anniversary of Judy Garland’s Carnegie Hall debut.
